FringeNYC Encore Series

I Can Has Cheezburger: The MusicLOL! is honored and humbled to have been asked to participate in the FringeNYC Encore Series.

Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, we will not be able to participate.

Please note: If we are still appearing on the Encore Series website, that is an error.

Again — thank you to all of our friends, fans, supporters, and of course the New York International Fringe Festival. We had the time of our lives!

We Has a Sad

It has come to our attention that someone bootlegged the Wednesday night performance of The MusicLOL!

This is a serious bummer because someone is trying to make a profit off of our volunteer-staffed show which is meant to be good-spirited fun.

If you see the video posted online or being sold anywhere online, please send us an email so we can take legal action.

Furthermore, after FringeNYC is over, we will be posting the video online FOR FREE so that you non-NYC cheez fans get a chance to see it, so there is no need to spend your monies.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our show and the New York International Fringe Festival.

“Insouciant, Infantile, and Uproarious”

“…But, really, what’s a Fringe show without some modicum of poor taste, as in the exceptionally stupid and very wonderful I Can Has Cheezburger: The MusicLOL! As a caption on the source site (icanhascheezburger.com) might read: “Dumb play: Ur doin’ it right!” Insouciant, infantile, and uproarious, this tuner by Sauce and Co. tells of a cat who has his picture uploaded to the titular website and embarks on a heroic quest in search of that meaty, dairy-laden foodstuff. “I know what a cheeseburger tastes like,” the feline Odysseus opines. “It tastes like my destiny.” Silly ditties and ample screen grabs accompany his search. The villainous Mr. Wrong and Epic Fail attempt to foil it. Though the aisles at the Cherry Lane were too narrow to accommodate literal ROFL, several audience members attempted it.

No other show offered such gooey irreverence or a ballad like “Someone to Eat Cheese With.” …”

“The production is laugh-out-loud hilarious, while still being able subtly to present a commentary on our mediatized existence. It throws into relief the obsession we all have with the imaginary online world. Lolcat discovers a whole wonderland of adventure within the ether of the internet, but one with little applicability IRL (that is, in real life).

I Can Has Cheezburger is extremely well-written. It is able to be overflowing with jokes while still telling a coherent, albeit outrageous, tale. The text is punctuated with clever one-liners and witty wordplay, particularly through its use of internet acronyms and shorthand. The music is quite catchy and the lyrics are gleefully humorous.”
